What can I do with a Cuttle Free account?

The Cuttle Free account is for personal use only. You may create physical items but only for your own personal use or as gifts. You may not sell items you make using Cuttle or use designs for marketing your business. For commercial use, please join Cuttle Pro.

Can I sell physical items using designs I made with Cuttle?

If you have a Cuttle Pro membership then yes! The Cuttle Pro membership grants you a commercial license to sell physical items you make using Cuttle’s Templates or the Cuttle Editor.

If I cancel my Cuttle Pro membership, can I still sell physical items of designs I had downloaded during my Cuttle Pro membership?

Yes.

Can I sell or give away digital designs (like SVG files) that I make with Cuttle?

If you make your design from scratch (starting from a blank design) in the Cuttle Editor and you have a Cuttle Pro account, then yes — these designs belong to you.

You may not sell or give away digital designs (like SVGs) that you generate or are derived from Cuttle’s Templates. The Cuttle Pro commercial license applies to physical items only.

We sometimes allow selling or giving away digital designs derived from templates on a case-by-case basis. Please check with us by emailing support@cuttle.xyz.

In particular, we’re usually okay with selling designs that use our boxes as starting points that you make your own by adding your own design elements. We’re usually not okay with selling SVGs in ways that compete with the original item, for example selling SVGs generated from our templates on demand or as bundles.

Can I sell Cuttle templates that I make?

Yes, as long as you have created the template from scratch in the Cuttle Editor, it is your intellectual property and you can sell access to the template.

Some designers have done this by sharing their Cuttle project as Unlisted, then sending buyers the secret URL when they purchase the template. Note that buyers will need to create a free Cuttle account in order to download. Also if they have a free (and not Pro) account, then the download limits will apply.

We are also exploring other business models where designers can sell their templates more directly on the Cuttle platform. If you are interested in this, please email support@cuttle.xyz and we will keep you in the loop on developments.

Can I use your photos in my marketing?

Please do not use photos from the Cuttle website on marketplaces like Etsy, Shopify, or Facebook Marketplace. This includes images generated by feeding Cuttle photos into AI tools. We don’t want to saturate these wider markets with repetitive imagery as this makes these personalized, individually-made items look less unique.

However, you may share photos from the Cuttle website to gauge initial interest within your local market. For example it’s okay to send our photos to existing customers or post on social media asking if people would be interested in an item.

Once you’ve made your first sample, we ask that you use your own photos for marketing your item. This will better reflect your unique touch, your business’s look and brand, and it’s a better experience for customers to see photos from the maker.

Can I use your photos in my blog, YouTube video, etc?

If you are writing an article or making a video about Cuttle — for example a tutorial — then yes, you are welcome to use our photos.
