A quick note about fit + kerf

The value in the Slot Size box isn’t automatically adjusted for kerf, so relying on standard material thickness can lead to loose or overly tight joints.

Instead of guessing, I recommend using a slot sizing guide to get the most accurate fit.

I keep one slot sizer for each common material thickness (like 1/4″ and 1/8″) and reuse them whenever I’m working with that same thickness again.

Here’s how it works:

Cut the slot sizer from the same material you’re using for your project
Slide your wood or acrylic into each opening until you find the one that feels just right
Take the measurement shown for that slot
Enter that number into the Slot Size setting above

This extra step saves time, reduces test cuts, and gives you cleaner, more reliable results.
