How to use the Kerf tester:

I recommend cutting this before the final template so you ensure the pieces fit together snuggly
After you cut the two pieces, test them by fitting sides that have the same kerf value to each other. You are looking for a snug fit that stays in place.
When you find the value with a snug fit, put that into the "Kerf" parameter to the right, above. This will adjust your template for your individual material thickness, laser and kerf.
How to find your slot size measurement

I use a slot sizer to determine the measurement to put in the "Material Thickness" field.

To use a slot sizer, simply cut it out of your desired material (I use one for 1/4" thick material, and one for 1/8" thick material - keep them and reuse for all materials this thick!)
Insert the project material into the slot sizer to find the slot that fits snuggly
Insert the measurement listed there into the Slot Size parameter above.
