Slot sizer

Use this slot sizer to easily figure out how thick to make slots without any math figuring out kerf.

Kerf is the tiny bit of extra material that is burned off by the width of the laser beam. Sheets of wood and acrylic are rarely exactly 1/8" or 1/4" thick, so measuring is essential!

Cut the slot sizing tool out of your desired thickness of material- you can reuse it every time you need to make a slot in that thickness of material again. I use one slot sizer for all 1/4" material, and one for all 1/8" materials. Slide your project's sheet of acrylic/wood into the slot sizer until you find the slot that is snug. Then, use that measurement as the slot width.
