This Money Cake template is a laser cut gift holder that turns rolled dollar bills into a tiered celebration display. A personalized magnetic keepsake attaches at the top, letting the recipient remove it and save it after the money has been gifted.

It is a great fit for birthdays, graduations, Sweet 16 parties, quinceaneras, bar mitzvahs, bat mitzvahs, weddings, showers, holidays, anniversaries, retirement parties, and other milestone celebrations.

The Money Cake template creates a tiered stand designed to hold rolled paper currency around each layer. The base and tiers form a small display tower, while the personalized magnetic keepsake attaches at the top and can be removed after the event.

The keepsake uses layered text construction. The main text is cut as a face layer, and an offset outline creates a backer behind it. A magnet is attached to the back of that backer so the keepsake can attach to the stand and later be displayed on a fridge, locker, memo board, or other magnetic surface.

Use the headline for a word like “sweet,” “happy,” “grad,” or “class of.” Use the subhead for a number, year, name, or short phrase. Adjust the text scale and position to fine tune the layout.

Magnetic Keepsake

The top piece is designed as a removable magnetic keepsake. The text is cut as a separate top layer and mounted onto an offset backer. A magnet is attached to the back of the backer so the keepsake can connect to the stand during gifting and be removed later as a memento.

The included offset backer is a simple way to create a layered text keepsake, but you can also use another Cuttle template for the removable piece. Try a keychain, ornament, small sign, or nameplate design, then attach a magnet to the back and skip the included backer from this file.

Assembly Notes

Adjust slot thickness based on your actual material.

A snug friction fit is ideal, but glue may still be helpful depending on the material and the final fit.

Instead of relying on kerf compensation inside the template, it is recommended to use a slot size tester to find the best fit for your material before cutting the full project.

Suggested Materials

Use plywood, MDF, acrylic, or other laser safe sheet material. The default slot thickness is set for common 1/8 inch material, but you should measure your actual material and adjust the slot thickness before cutting.
