DIY Build Your Own Breakfast Coloring Set

This playful set includes a skillet-style tray, clear lift-off lid, spatula, and mix-and-match breakfast pieces like eggs, bacon, toast, sausage, a biscuit, and a crispy hash brown. Kids can color the pieces with paint markers, acrylic paint, or their favorite supplies, then arrange their own breakfast plate again and again.

Instructions:

1. Color the lid piece first.
After cutting, color or paint the lid piece, if desired. It is usually easier to color the piece before glued to the lid.

2. Build the skillet frame.
Glue or adhere the first thicker frame piece on top of the skillet base. This piece includes the handle for the skillet, so make sure it is lined up correctly with the base piece before attaching. Then glue or adhere the additional thicker frame layer(s) on top. You may cut more or fewer thicker frames depending on your material thickness and how much space you want inside the skillet.

3. Add the lid insert layer.
Once the thicker frame layers are dry, glue or adhere the thinner frame layer on top of the skillet frame. This thinner layer creates the inset area where the clear acrylic lid will sit.

4. Attach the lift lid piece to the acrylic lid.
Glue or adhere the attached lift lid piece to the clear acrylic lid, using the score line as guidance. This piece acts as the lift handle, making it easier to remove the clear lid and reveal the breakfast pieces inside.

5. Color the breakfast pieces.
Color or paint the removable breakfast pieces, such as the bacon, eggs, sausage, biscuit, toast, hash brown, and spatula with paint markers, acrylic paint, or your preferred coloring supplies.

6. Place the breakfast pieces inside.
Add the finished breakfast pieces to the skillet, then place the clear acrylic lid into the inset frame. Use the attached lift lid piece to lift the lid and reveal the breakfast set inside.
