DIY Bat Cave Tin Coloring Set

This design includes a layered cave tin, lid, and adorable bat cave pieces like bats, bugs, rocks, a moon, and a spider for kids to color, paint, and play with. Perfect for Halloween crafting or a fun seasonal DIY project.

Instructions:

1. Color the pieces first.
After cutting, color or paint the lid, base, cave details before assembly, if desired. It is usually easier to color the engraved and scored details before the layers are glued together.

2. Build the tin frame.
Glue or adhere the thicker frame layer(s) on top of the base piece. The first thicker frame layer includes the cave walls and ceiling that extend into the design, so be sure to line this layer up carefully with the base artwork.

3. Add additional frame depth.
A second thicker frame layer is included to give the tin more depth and create space for the removable pieces. You may cut more or fewer frame layers depending on your material thickness and how much room you want inside the tin.

4. Add the lid insert layer.
Once the thicker frame layers are dry, glue or adhere the thinner frame layer on top. This thinner layer creates the inset area where the lid will sit.

5. Attach the tab handle.
Glue or adhere the tab handle to the lid, using the score lines on the lid as a placement guide. Let the glue dry completely before using the lid.

6. Color the bat cave pieces.
Color or paint the bats, bugs, moon, spider, and rocks with paint markers, acrylic paint, or your preferred coloring supplies.

7. Place the pieces inside.
Add the finished bat cave pieces to the tin, then place the lid into the inset frame. Use the tab to lift the lid and reveal the spooky-cute bat cave scene inside.
