Mother's Day Sign

Type the kids names to personalize this sign. You can also customize the background text to make it say DAD, GRANDMA, etc. It generates a three layer sign, or you can optionally engrave the kids names or the background text to make a one or two layer sign.

Materials

In the sample above, we used 1/8 inch plywood:

  • Back layer - Walnut

  • Middle layer (MOM cutout) - Maple

  • Front layer (kids names) - Cherry

For hanging on a wall, we recommend 3M Command Strips (Amazon affiliate link).

Tip: Treatment Options

By default it makes a three layer sign: kids, "MOM", and backer.

But you can also choose to engrave the kids’ names, “MOM” text, or both, to make a one or two layer sign.

Open the Treatment folder to change these options.

Tip: "Grandma" and other longer background words

When making longer background words like "GRANDMA", you can adjust Background Text Font > momStretch to vertically stretch the word and have it take up more space, like this:

These came out great and were a huge hit for Mother’s Day. I love that you can do multiple lines of names and the amount of customization options gives you freedom to make what the customer is asking for

This is a pretty simple design to make. When adding more than a couple names, though, you'll need to play around with the placement of the names.

How did you get the name above and below

I do them a little differently than everybody. I think I take the cut out of dad or whatever the background name is and I paint that black then I put it back in after I paint the back of it and it makes it solid and I don’t have any cleanup to do around the cutout.

Very creative uses! I especially like FOREVER, hadn't seen that one before!
@Kathleenky
This is a fun template ... I used scrapbook paper behind the words to coordinate with the color I painted the frame.

The possibilities with this template are endless, by far my favorite template. I've used the design in multiple layered pieces, on tumblers, for parents, teachers, wedding gifts, etc. It is always a favorite and easy to personalize.
