How to use

1. Set the dimensions (width and height) of your desired box. The width is the size of the box at the widest section of the heart.

2. Set the materialThickness based on the material you're cutting. This will determine the height of the slat joints.

3. Set the kerf to compensate for the kerf of your cutter. A value of 0.007" is usually good for tight-fitting laser-cut finger joints, but you might need to adjust this depending on your material, material thickness, and cutter.

4. When cutting set all blue elements to score, these are the matching numbers on the bottom and slats that help with assembly, and also the outline on the Lid that helps with gluing the Lid Baseplate.

5. The file above includes the Top, Bottom, Plain Lid and Slats for the sides. You can glue the inner cutout from the Top of the box to the Lid, this is the Lid Baseplate that centers the lid when closed.

Decorative Lids

Here are a few decorative lids. Note that you also need to set the blue line to score so you can use it as a guide to glue the Lid Baseplate.

If you want to customize your own decorative lid you can use the Plain Lid component as a starting point. Because you need to score the underside of the lid make sure that if you are cutting any letters these are flipped.

Assembly

1. Attach all the Slats to the Bottom matching the scored numbers.

   

2. Place the Top on the Slats starting with the largest ones near the point of the heart, and then press it down as you adjust the other slats to go into the slots. This part is a little fiddly but you can do it with some patience.

   

3. Glue the Lid Baseplate to the Lid using the score mark as a guide.

   

4. You are done and ready to give this cute box to someone special! ❤️
