Create a raised planter that combines laser cut wood with a custom 3D printed liner. This Desktop Planter is designed as a finished plywood box on feet, perfect for herbs, starters, succulents, or giftable plant displays. The wooden shell gives it a warm look, while the printed liner is sized to fit neatly inside and includes a built in drainage offset to help separate roots from excess water.

The liner is made as separate print parts so it can be printed flat, assembled with a friction fit, and used without support material.

The outer planter is cut from wood and assembled with finger joints. The raised feet give it a clean look that works nicely on a desk, shelf, or windowsill.

Inside the box is a custom fit liner made from separate 3D printed parts. The liner is sized to fit the planter interior and includes a raised drainage area so water can collect below the soil instead of leaving roots sitting directly in moisture.

How it works

The wooden planter is the outer shell. The 3D liner sits inside and is sized based on the planter dimensions and wall settings. The drainage offset creates a gap below the planting area so excess water can collect beneath the soil line instead of soaking the roots.

The printed liner parts are separate so they can be printed flat, without supports, then pressed together inside the box.
