Create a custom sized 3D printed frame in just a few clicks. This two part frame is designed to hold flat inserts between the front frame and backer, creating a clean snap fit assembly with a satisfying click when pressed together.
It works especially well for small photos, art prints, and kids drawings, making it an easy way to turn everyday paper keepsakes into something worth displaying.
Originally designed as a fridge magnet frame, this project also works well with removable adhesive strips, hook and loop dots, or a separate easel for larger sizes. For an extra nice finish, try printing on a textured build plate.
What This Project Makes
This project creates a two part 3D printed frame:
Front frame
Backer
Your photo or artwork is sandwiched between the two parts and held in place with a friction fit.
Front frame
Backer
Good Uses
Fridge photo magnets
Mini art frames
Kids drawing displays
Giftable photo keepsakes
Label frames
Small desk or shelf displays when paired with a separate easel
Important Notes
Larger frames can become too heavy for a single magnet. For bigger sizes, Command strips, Velcro dots, or a separate easel are often a better option.
If you enable the magnet pocket, the magnet thickness should match the Backer Depth setting, since the magnet pocket depth is driven by the backer thickness.
The magnet fit is intentionally tight. You may need to press firmly to insert it. Slightly warming the PLA pocket can make installation easier.
This template is intended for flat inserts such as photos, paper art, cardstock, and similar materials.
