From the picture, It looks like the base is not sturdy enough for the cross?! If the cross is knocked to the left or right, it seems like it would fall out. Also, in set up I see no way to deal with kerf other than trial and error?

Thanks for the questions! The cross is held in the base with a snug friction fit, so it doesn't simply fall out. The Slot Size parameter is included specifically to account for material thickness and kerf variations. A good starting point is to reduce the slot size by your kerf value (or preferred kerf compensation setting), which should help provide a secure fit with most materials. This allows users to easily adapt the design to their particular machine and material.
