Miniature Folding Box

Tiny boxes can be hard to fold; this is the easiest fold I have made yet. This is a two part (base and lid) miniature box. It could be used for cards, board games or just about any product you want to box in miniature. The fold will require glue, but should be large enough to make it possible (if not convenient).

This design would need to be significantly altered to do human scale boxes as the thickness of the material would interfere with the bends.

Several things to pay attention to:

• All measurements are EXTERNAL, so if you need a specific size inside, add some padding.

• The measurements shown are the real world size; note the "scale" parameter, it will shrink the whole thing down to miniature scale.

• Inset is how much smaller the inside box (bottom) is than the outside (top), this will depend on how thick / stiff your paper is. Thicker or stiffer paper should have a larger inset value.

Makes:

A miniature folding box from paper / card stock.

Materials:

Paper or card stock, thin materials are ideal for this.

Glue is needed to complete assembly (possible with tape)

Assembly:

One piece is smaller than the other, it is the bottom. The larger piece is the top.

This is ideal for feeding into a Cricut (or Silhouette) with "Print and Cut" capabilities.

It can also be done on a laser with a pre-printed paper.

1. Fold all four flaps ( a ) in towards ( b )

2. Fold all sides (b) towards the center of the box

3. Fold all sides ( c ) towards the center of the box

4. Glue flaps ( a ) to side ( c )

5. Repeat for other part of the box.

6. The bottom should now slide easily into the top
