New Cuttle integration within LightBurn

We’ve partnered with LightBurn to offer Cuttle directly within the LightBurn app.

This means you no longer need to juggle SVG files. You can personalize Cuttle templates directly within LightBurn, click Send to LightBurn, and you’re ready to cut!

Here’s how to do it:

If you don’t see the Web Tools menu, make sure you’re on the latest version of LightBurn. Go to Help > Check for Updates to see what version you’re on. The Web Tools menu was added in version 2.1.

Our mission at Cuttle is to get you off the computer and holding something in your hands as quickly as possible. Export for Print & Cut

My eufyMake UV printer arrived a few days ago and I’ve been chatting with Creators Tara and Bonnie about how Cuttle can supercharge the Laser Cut + UV Print workflow.

We have a bunch of ideas queued up and just released the first one: Export for Print and Cut. This will automatically generate an SVG cut file and a PDF print file from a single design.

To use this feature:

• In your design, use hairline strokes for anything you want cut
• Use fills, images, or non-hairline strokes for anything you want printed

For example, here is a design that uses red hairline stroke to indicate the cut paths and images and fills that are intended for the printer.

When you do File > Export for Print & Cut, Cuttle will generate a zip file with these contents:

Cuttle ensures that the size and framing for all of these files are consistent.

This is just the first version! Next we want to explore automatic generation of jigs and registration marks — to work with LightBurn’s Print & Cut feature, for example.

PNG Export now lets you set the resolution (pixels per inch)

When you download PNGs you can now set the resolution (pixels per inch) of the PNG file. We default to 300 ppi which is a typical recommendation for printing.

New Beginner Videos: Using Cuttle with Glowforge, LightBurn, xTool, and WeCreat

Federico recorded beginner videos showing how to download a personalized Cuttle SVG file and then make it using your laser software. In four separate videos he covers:

• Glowforge
• LightBurn
• xTool Studio
• WeCreat MakeIt!

For each one he explains:

• How to download a personalized SVG from Cuttle
• Understanding what’s in an SVG cut file
• How to choose settings for Cutting, Scoring, and Engraving in your laser software
• How to cut multiple pieces from a file separately in your laser software

These videos are great if you’re new to your laser cutter and want a step-by-step walkthrough of how to make a project from a Cuttle template from start to finish.

Other Improvements and Fixes 🐞

• Added an Optimize for Silhouette option when exporting DXF. This polygonizes curves so Silhouette Studio reads the file correctly.
• Fixed an issue where Glowforge would occasionally interpret the inside and outside of paths and text incorrectly.
• PDF Export now produces a tightly-framed graphic, matching how SVG and PNG export already worked. (File > Print still creates a US Letter PDF.)
• The Text Input now shows a subtle dot for spaces to make it more clear where you may (intentionally or unintentionally) have extra spaces in your text.
• Scripting: Built-in Shapes and Modifiers now have proper reference docs.
