Back to School Cuttle Templates
With the first day of school fast approaching, we wanted to highlight a few school-themed templates from our team and our Creator partners.
This template and the accompanying tutorial video from Federico lets you easily and reliably engrave perfectly aligned text onto standard Dixon Ticonderoga pencils.
Bonnie’s First Day of School board features interchangeable names, first/last day, and spots for dry erase (white acrylic). There are lots more First Day of School templates with all different shapes and styles — check them out!
One of our most popular templates, this personalized magnet is perfect for hanging artwork on the fridge.
For teachers, check out these personalizable door signs: Pencil Door Sign (Mrs. Smith), Dry Erase Sign (Vice Principal), Door Corner Sign (Mrs. Jones)
Finally, we liked this Personalizable Ruler from Creator Brian Wente.
Cuttle Creators templates are now featured in the Templates section
We did a quick redesign of the Cuttle Templates section and are now also featuring templates from Cuttle Creators!
There are now over 200 templates in this section and you get unlimited access to all of them with your Cuttle Pro membership.
These templates — designed by our Creator partners and hand curated by the Cuttle team — also appear in the various template categories.
Speaking of template categories, we added Halloween, School, Bag Tags, and Multiple Names!
Weld and Score can now handle engraved shapes
Cuttle’s Weld and Score modifier lets you create a “layered” look without using multiple physical layers. Instead a score line is added between layers to make them “pop”.
We just updated this modifier so that it now properly masks any engraved (filled) shapes!
In the example above, we have a simple flower design that includes score lines on the petal and an engraved center. When we “Weld and Score” three of these together, we see that the engraves are preserved and masked by the flowers above them.
Free Cuttle for K-12 Education
Over 200 schools have applied since we announced the new free Cuttle for K-12 Education plan last week!
This plan provides unlocks all the features of the Cuttle Editor for K-12 teachers and students — with unlimited projects and downloads — for no cost! It does not include Pro content (like Pro Cuttle Templates and Pro fonts). Check out the full description for details and to apply!
Here are just a few of the notes we’ve received:
One of the reasons we started Cuttle was to support independent inventors.
The team is thrilled with this response and looking forward to seeing what students make in the upcoming school year!
New Video: What is Cuttle?
Federico recorded a short video (less than two minutes!) explaining what Cuttle is and how people use it.
We’re working on a new Getting Started series — for newcomers to Cuttle and laser cutting — and this is the first of that series.
Video Tutorial: Make a Puzzle Toy with Noun Project Icons
In Federico’s livestream from last week, he shows how to create a two layer puzzle toy using Cuttle’s built-in icons. In case you missed it, Cuttle Pro members now have access to 1,000,000+ new icons through our partner The Noun Project.
Federico demonstrates how to create the top layer with the cut-out puzzle pieces, add tabs to make the pieces easier to remove, and engrave text on the backer. He also explains how to set up the project so the icons can be easily swapped out.
You can catch Federico’s streams live on our Facebook Group on Thursdays at 1pm PT / 2pm MT / 3pm CT / 4pm ET.
