This is a very old school toy. You squeeze the bottom (no string or bear) sticks together gently and the bear dances.

the Article credits it's build to a Connecticut woodworker named "Dave Moretti"

I cut the bear out of ⅛" Baltic Birch, but I feel like many materials could work well.

The instructions (a picture in the project) indicates Floss, but I only had some twine. It works, but not sure the best tie for it.

I used ⅛" brass rod for the arms and legs, and peened both sides with a hammer, seems to work fine.

I didn't laser the sticks. Them I had lying around, cut them to length on my band saw, drilled the central hole with my drill press. The small holes I ended up using a Dremmel with a super small bit (drill press chuck was too big to hold the bit).

Sanded and used butcher block oil for finish. (Kids means you need food safe).

I am publishing this in the hope that someone else will make this delightful toy for a kid.
